Starting an Art Collection

Considering investing in art or even starting a collection? Don't know where to begin?

Bankside Gallery is the perfect place to start your art collection, offering a diverse selection of affordable art from over 200 printmakers and watercolourists,  so you will have plenty of choice. Tailored to all tastes and budgets, there's something here for everyone. Let us guide and support you through the exciting journey of starting an art collection…

Start Small

If you're new to collecting, beginning with smaller pieces can be a wise approach. Starting small allows you to explore various styles and genres and refine your preferences and taste over time. It's a practical choice, particularly if space is limited in your home but you still want to infuse it with personality.

And of course, you will find that smaller works not only fit snugly into your space but also into your budget.

On a budget?

Our commitment to accessibility means that you can begin your collection without breaking the bank. Original prints are particularly budget-friendly, with our unframed prints starting from as little as £35, If you prefer watercolours, then we also have works to fit your budget, with prices  from as low as £90 unframed.

Our resident Societies have also taken initiatives to make art more accessible. In the 1920s, the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) started the "Print Collectors Club" (PCC), where, each year six members of the society offer limited edition prints at a reduced price of £160 for one year only. This is the perfect way to kickstart your collection: along with your purchase you will become a member of the PCC,  and receive detailed information about the artist and the society, together with a valuable 10% discount on all RE works at Bankside Gallery for 12 months from the date of purchase. You can see this year's selection here or by visiting the gallery in person. All artworks are on display and available to take home directly upon purchase. If you can't visit us, just give us a ring and your chosen print can be sent directly to you!

The gallery is also part of the Own Art scheme, which allows you to pay for an artwork in instalments and with no interest.
