Jane’s prints are inspired by the subject of people at work. She has spent many years drawing in some truly amazing places such as a bell foundry, construction sites, a tube train maintenance depot, and even a sewage pumping stations. The drawings she makes form the bases of all of my ideas and images. Jane mainly works with the process of etching, and occasionally with woodcut. Many of the places she draws, such as foundries, are quite dark and often there is strong contrast of light and dark. The rich tonal range that aquatint offers can evoke mood like no other printmaking process.
