Holly Downing ARE

As an art student in the 1970s in California, and later at London’s Royal College of Art, Holly was seduced by the elegant simplicity and sensuousness of the mezzotint’s blacks and subtle greys. Thirty years later she continue to find deep pleasure in scraping images out of blackness, and in exploring their potential as quiet metaphors for the human condition.
