Richard Pikesley was born in 1951 in London, and studied at the Harrow School of Art, the City of Canterbury College of Art and the University of London. He was elected to the New English Art Club in 1974 where he is currently President, and to the Royal Watercolour Society in 1997. " Painting for me is always a conversation. It might start from something caught out of the corner of my eye, but as I set up to paint the scene in front of me, the emerging marks on the canvas become part of a discussion with my eye and hand."
