Chloë Cheese RWS

Biography

Born in 1952 to artist and printmaker Bernard Cheese and artist and illustrator Sheila Robinson, Chloë Cheese grew up in Great Bardfield, an Essex village full of artists and creatives. Cheese graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1976 and started working as a freelance illustrator, whilst making prints at the Curwen Studio.

Cheese has lived in South London since the 1970s and in recent years, has concentrated solely on her watercolours, etchings and monoprints. Often inspired by visits to Venice or table top still lifes in her own London kitchen, Cheese is drawn to exploring her home and surroundings through her work. Drawing is also fundamental to Cheese's practice and her outdoor works begin in her sketchbooks, where she can observe city environments and the people who inhabit them.

Cheese currently exhibits with The St Jude print collective, The Emma Mason Gallery and displays drawings and watercolours at Hayletts Gallery.
