David Robertson's work currently has two distinct themes within it. One is landscapes, inspired by walking and drawing in National Parks. These studies resonate with viewers of his work, and reflect a deep-rooted human connection with nature. David's documentation of these landscapes often focuses on stones and trees.
Other works by David show his interest in socio-political ideas. In 2022 he was awarded the opportunity to display his linocut, ‘Suffering in Silence’ as he originally envisaged it, using his background in sculpture, as an immersive print installation featuring 25 life-size figures hanging and constantly moving. The work explores the stigma around mental health in men.
David was selected for a two-week winter Mawddach Residency in Snowdonia in 2021, and a funded, six-week Holburne residency hosted at the University of Bath in 2022. He works as a freelance gallery technician has been a member of the Society of Wood Engravers since 2007.
